Hatteras Island Family Medicine is locally owned and operated by Alexis G. Hodges RN, FNP-C.  Nurse practitioners deliver high-quality health care services in a manner very similar to physicians.  The primary focus however is on health promotion, disease prevention as well as health education and counseling.  Alexis G. Hodges MSN, RN, FNP-C – Alex is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner credentialed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She completed her Masters in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 2007. Alex has been an RN since 1989 with concentrations in Emergency Room & Trauma ICU prior to moving to Hatteras and Family Medicine since 1993.  Alex’s concentration of practice is on the entire family with a special interest in women’s health. Alex has lived on the island with her husband Dr. Al Hodges since 1993.  Alex and her husband have 4 children: Ashley 16, Meredith 14, Rebecca 10 and Al III 8.  Alex enjoys spending time with her family.  She also enjoys boating, offshore fishing, reading, sewing & walking on the beach.
